Description
Zhuxikou Hydropower Project, P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as the project) is located on the Zishui River in Anhua County, Hunan Province, P. R. China. The total installed capacity is 74MW with four generators, single capacity of which is 18.5MW 1 . The surface area at the full reservoir level of the project is 5.51 km2, so the power density of the project is 13.43 W/m2. The annual operation time is 3989 h. The annual electricity generation of the project is 295,200 MWh with a net power supply of 280,000 MWh per year to Central China Power Grid (CCPG), which is dominated by fossil fuel-fired power plants. It is estimated the annual emission reductions will be 272,874 tCO2e in the first crediting period.
The project contributes to the local sustainable development in the following aspects:
Providing the clean electric power. The project fits for the Chinese energy development goal. It can provide the clean electric power for the local residents to reduce the demand of fossil fuel and achieve greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions;
Promoting the local economic development. The project will promote the local development greatly
in the agriculture and service trade during the construction and operation period;
Improving the local infrastructure. The project owner would build roads and the electric transmission facilities, which will be helpful to improve the living condition of the local residents.
