Description
The proposed Jilin Xiangyang 1st phase Wind Power Project is about 26km northwest to Taonan city, and 232km away from Changchun City, the capital of Jilin Province, China.
The implementation of the proposed project will achieve CO2 emission reduction by replacing electricity generated by fossil fuel fired power plants. The purpose of the proposed project is to generate zero - emission wind power and deliver it to Northeast China Power Grid. For the proposed project, the scenario existing prior to the start of the implementation of the project activity is Northeast China Power Grid providing the same electricity service as the proposed project. The baseline scenario is the same as the scenario existing prior to the start of implementation of the project activity.
The proposed project involves the installation of 267 turbines, each of which has a rated output of 1500kW, providing a total capacity of 400.5MW. The annual grid-connected output of the proposed project is estimated to be 861,200MWh. The electricity to be generated will be sold to Northeast China Power Grid. The project will help reduce GHG emissions generated from the high -growth, coal- dominated power generation. The estimated annual GHG emission reductions are 885,335 tCO2e.
The proposed project will contribute to the sustainable development of the host country through the following aspects:
Reducing the emission of other pollutants resulting from local coal-based power plants compared to
a business-as-usual scenario;
Creating approximately 501 employment opportunities during the project operation and construction; Promoting the local tourism industry and improving the livelihoods of local people; Help promote localization of manufacture of wind power generator and its parts, therefore speedup the
development of wind power generation in China. At a larger scale, the project will assist China in stimulating and accelerating the commercialization of grid-connected renewable energy technologies and markets in China.
